Title: ICE: Monopoly v Market Growth

Location: ICE Barcelona, Spain

Daniel took the stage and had the privilege of speaking on the main panel, “Monopolies vs. Market Growth,” Sharing the stage with Atle Hamar, Director General of the Norwegian regulator, Denis mudene Ngabirano, CEO of Uganda’s Gaming Board, and Jay Schall from Wynn Resorts, One of the most fundamental and pressing topics in our industry was discussed, dissected and perceptions challenged.
While the gaming industry continues to boom - this year’s ICE shattered records with 80,000 visitors - the shadow of the black market looms large, commanding an alarming 80% of the global market share! This unchecked growth poses a severe threat to public health and consumer protection around the world!

Daniel re-enforced his message during and after the panel – “Regulators can no longer turn a blind eye or downplay this crisis, despite their best efforts to address the situation. Punishing licensed operators while the black market thrives is a misstep, as these unregulated entities operate with zero accountability, creating an uneven playing field.
Before discussing licensing models or rules, the top priority must be stopping black market operators from reaching players altogether. Solve this, and the majority of the problem is solved, paving the way for a healthier, more sustainable industry!”
